Data Analyst / Junior Data Analyst (Entry / Junior Level)
Role Description We are seeking an analytical, curious, and data-driven Data Analyst / Junior Data Analyst to transform raw business data into actionable insights, clear reports, and intuitive visual dashboards. In this entry-to-junior level position, you will work closely with Senior Data Analysts, Data Engineers, Business Analysts, and Department Leads to support data collection, data cleaning, quantitative analysis, and performance tracking across business units. You will be responsible for querying relational databases, identifying trends and operational anomalies, building automated dashboards, and presenting data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities include maintaining data integrity across core datasets, standardizing recurring reporting schedules, performing ad-hoc statistical analyses, and assisting in business process optimization. Success in this position requires strong logical reasoning, high mathematical accuracy, proficiency in SQL and data visualization tools, introductory knowledge of scripting languages, and the ability to translate technical metrics into clear business narratives.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Business Information Systems, or a related quantitative field.
- Database & SQL Querying: Solid foundational knowledge of relational databases and proficient SQL skills (SELECT, GROUP BY, JOINs, subqueries, CTEs, and aggregate functions) for extracting and manipulating data.
- Data Visualization & Business Intelligence (BI): Practical experience or academic exposure to building interactive dashboards and visual reports using up-to-date BI platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or Qlik).
- Spreadsheets & Analytical Modeling: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, SUMIFS, INDEX/MATCH, nested formulas, and data validation rules).
- Programming & Statistical Tools (Desirable): Introductory experience or coursework in Python (Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib/Seaborn) or R for data wrangling, exploratory data analysis (EDA), and automated script execution.
- Data Cleaning & ETL Concepts: Understanding of basic Data Transformation workflows (ETL/ELT), handling missing data, identifying data outliers, and ensuring data accuracy before analysis.
- Statistical Concepts & Business Acumen: Core grasp of descriptive statistics (mean, median, variance, standard deviation), probability distribution, correlation vs. causation, and key business performance metrics (KPIs).
- Ad-hoc & Exploratory Analysis: Capability to investigate raw datasets, formulate hypothesis tests, uncover operational patterns, and present data-backed recommendations to management.
- Communication & Data Storytelling: Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain complex statistical outputs clearly and present visual dashboards to non-technical business stakeholders.
