United Petroleum is one of Australia’s largest independently owned fuel retail and distribution businesses, with an extensive national network and pipeline of new developments and site upgrades.
As our network continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Draftsperson to join our Construction team in Melbourne and play an important role in the design and delivery of projects across our portfolio.
About the Opportunity
You will be responsible for producing high-quality concept designs, detailed drawings and construction documentation for a diverse range of new builds, existing sites and redevelopment projects.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong technical drafting capability, sound construction knowledge and the ability to translate project and business requirements into accurate, practical and compliant design documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce accurate concept, detailed design and construction drawings for current builds and refurbishment/upgrade of existing sites.
- Prepare site plans showing vehicle swept paths to assist with analysis of various layout options for new-build and refurbishment projects.
- Assist with the implementation and ongoing development of standard design documentation across new and retrofit locations.
- Prepare detailed floor plans and elevations to assist with tendering of projects.
- Assess existing sites/premises and prepare documentation to demonstrate existing conditions and proposed changes for refurbishment projects.
- Coordinate with external consultants to support design development and preparation of building approval/building permit documentation.
- Manage and maintain design documentation through the various stages of development and construction.
- Consult with planners, consultants and local authorities throughout planning and building approval processes.
- Update and maintain design standards in response to operational and business requirements.
- Collaborate with internal teams including Construction, Property, Acquisitions, Planning, Operations to incorporate business requirements into design outcomes.
- Provide accurate and consistent design information throughout the construction process.
- Prepare and update as-built and modification drawings as required.
About You To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- An Advanced Diploma of Building Design (Architectural) or equivalent qualification.
- Strong proficiency in Revit; experience with AutoCAD 2D will be highly regarded.
- Previous experience working across a multi-site portfolio of 10-20 projects concurrently.
- Demonstrated experience producing detailed construction drawings and documentation.
- Experience in retail fuel or QSR site design will be highly regarded.
- Experience preparing as-built and modification drawings within a construction, development or similar environment.
- A strong understanding of building codes, regulations and compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of relevant standards including AS 4897, AS 1596 and/or AS 1940 would be advantageous.
- A practical understanding of the design and construction process from concept through to completion.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality documentation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously when required.
