Industrial Electrician – Control Panels & Commissioning

Control Power Solutions | Perth, WA | Full time

Build it. Install it. Commission it. See the project through from start to finish.

Control Power Solutions is a growing Western Australian electrical and controls business specialising in water treatment, industrial electrical systems, control panel manufacturing, skid building, installation and commissioning.

We are looking for a skilled Industrial Electrician who enjoys technical, varied work and takes pride in producing a high-quality finished product.

This isn't a production-line panel wiring role.

You will have the opportunity to be involved in complete projects — from assisting with procurement and building control panels and equipment in the workshop, through to site installation, commissioning, fault finding, Site Acceptance Testing and final customer handover.

A major component of the role is industrial control panel building; however, you will also work with pumps, motors, valves, instrumentation, PLC-controlled equipment, VSDs and complete water treatment systems.

If you enjoy controls and industrial electrical work and want more variety than simply wiring panels every day, this role offers the opportunity to develop across the complete project lifecycle.

What You'll Be Doing

- Build and wire industrial control panels, switchboards and distribution boards from electrical drawings and schematics
- Build and electrically integrate skids and associated industrial equipment
- Install and terminate PLCs, HMIs, VSDs, power supplies, relays, circuit protection and control equipment
- Wire and connect pumps, motors, valves, instruments and field devices
- Complete panel wiring, termination, ferruling and labelling to a high standard
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical drawings
- Install and terminate field cabling and equipment
- Carry out continuity, insulation resistance, electrical and functional testing
- Identify and rectify wiring issues, electrical faults and assembly defects
- Complete quality assurance and electrical testing documentation
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
- Complete site-based electrical installations,

modifications and testing
- Commission equipment and industrial control systems at customer sites
- Participate in Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and customer handover
- Fault-find electrical, instrumentation and control systems
- Work closely with our PLC programmer during commissioning and troubleshooting
- Assist with material procurement and project preparation
- Liaise with project staff, engineers and customers to resolve technical issues
- Help improve and standardise panel designs, workshop practices and manufacturing procedures

What We're Looking For

- Current WA Electrical Licence
- Industrial electrical, controls, switchboard or related experience
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
- Experience working with motors, pumps, VSDs or industrial control equipment
- Good understanding of electrical testing procedures and applicable standards
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of your work
- Good organisation and ability to work to project deadlines
- Practical, flexible and solutions-focused attitude
- Willingness to undertake both workshop and site-based work

Previous control panel or switchboard building experience is highly regarded but does not need to be your entire background. We are also interested in experienced industrial electricians who have strong controls, motor control, instrumentation or commissioning experience and want to further develop their panel-building skills. PLC programming experience is advantageous but not essential. You will work closely with our PLC programmer during commissioning,

so a good understanding of PLC I/O and PLC-controlled equipment is more important than being an experienced programmer.

Highly Regarded Experience

Experience in any of the following will be advantageous:

- Water treatment systems
- Industrial control panel and switchboard building
- Instrumentation installation and testing
- Pump and motor control
- VSDs and motor control systems
- Industrial commissioning and fault finding
- PLC-controlled machinery and equipment
- Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
- Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
- Industrial field installations

What We Offer

- Competitive hourly rate based on experience and capability
- Permanent full-time position
- Variety between workshop and site-based work
- Opportunity to work on industrial water treatment and infrastructure projects throughout WA
- Exposure to PLCs, VSDs, instrumentation, motor control and industrial automation
- Opportunity to be involved in projects from initial build through to final commissioning and handover
- Site, regional and overtime opportunities as projects require
- A role where quality workmanship and practical problem solving are valued
- Opportunity to broaden your technical experience rather than being limited to one type of electrical work
- Direct involvement in projects and the opportunity to take genuine ownership of your work
- Opportunity to grow with an expanding electrical and controls business

Why Control Power Solutions? We want to offer more than a repetitive workshop position.

One week you may be building and testing a control panel or water treatment skid in the workshop. The next you could be installing that equipment on site, commissioning instruments and motors, fault finding alongside the PLC programmer and completing the final SAT with the customer.

You get to see what you build come to life.

As Control Power Solutions continues to grow, we are looking for the right person to grow with us — someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys solving problems and wants to become an important part of the business long term.

If you're an experienced electrician looking to develop further into industrial controls, commissioning and water treatment, we'd like to hear from you.
