Company Description MND Australia is the national peak body representing state-based organisations that support people living with and impacted by Motor Neurone Disease (MND). Since 1993, the organisation has been a strong, unified voice for the MND community across Australia. Through national and international partnerships, MND Australia works to increase understanding of the disease and advocate for better services, support, and policy outcomes.

The organisation funds world-class research focused on improved treatments, enhanced quality of care, and ultimately finding a cure. Team members join a mission-driven setting that is dedicated to meaningful impact for people affected by MND.

Role Description The Executive Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in Canberra, responsible for leading the strategic and operational activities of MND Australia. This position oversees organisational planning, governance processes, and the effective implementation of programs that support the MND community.

The Executive

Officer manages stakeholder relationships with member organisations, government agencies, donors, researchers, and partner bodies, ensuring strong collaboration and advocacy outcomes. Day-to-day duties include guiding staff and contractors, preparing reports and submissions, overseeing budgets and fundraising initiatives, and supporting the Board with timely information and advice. The role also involves representing MND Australia at meetings, events,



and public forums to promote awareness, influence policy, and advance the organisation’s mission.

Qualifications

- Proven leadership and management experience, including strategic planning, team leadership, and organisational governance.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills, with experience working with boards, government agencies, and partner organisations.
- Demonstrated capability in advocacy, policy development, or sector representation within health, community services, or not-for-profit environments.
- Financial and operational management skills, including budgeting, resource allocation, and oversight of projects or programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, including report writing, public speaking, and presentation skills.
- Experience in fundraising, grant applications, or philanthropic engagement is highly beneficial.
- Ability to work on-site in Canberra, collaborate across diverse teams, and handle sensitive issues with empathy and professionalism.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in management, public health, social policy, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Understanding of Motor Neurone Disease or willingness to quickly develop strong knowledge of the condition and its impacts.
- Commitment to inclusion, ethical practice, and the mission of improving outcomes for people living with and impacted by MND.
