This is not an FP&A; or commercial finance role. Budgeting, forecasting and business partnering sit with the Head of Finance. If that is the work you want, this will frustrate you, and we should both save the time.

Our client is a privately capitalised Brisbane business with considerable founder and private investor money behind it; the best part: ZERO MICRO MANAGEMENT :D

It has grown considerably faster than its finance function was built to carry, and the CFO now needs someone to work with to overhaul that. The role sits in the leadership group alongside the Head of Finance, both reporting to him.

The Operation:

Revenue in this business is claimed, not invoiced. Accuracy shows up in cash long before it shows up in the accounts, so claim quality, rejections and rework are commercial problems rather than administrative ones. Collections is being built from scratch. Compliance sits on top of both because the regulator has views on how it is done.

That is the part of the job that fills your week. Fifteen people, high volume, and a direct line between how well they work and what lands in the bank.

The Control Workplace:

You also own it properly: general ledger, month-end close, balance sheet integrity, statutory reporting, tax and audit. It has to stay clean while everything underneath it changes.

There is commercial ground attached as well — treasury and debt review, reverse factoring and supplier finance.

Why this one is different:

The business is genuinely ahead of its market on technology. AI is used across the organisation every day; it is training its own models to run its platform,



and it builds its own tooling rather than waiting on vendors. That is unusual for a company this size, and it is not marketing language.

So the automation mandate is real. Repetitive processing comes out, and the team moves up into exception management, analysis and the decisions that need a person. The business already understands the hard part is not the software. It is fifteen people whose jobs change shape, and leading them properly through it.

Nobody is going to hand you a roadmap. You and the CFO will write it together.

Growth here is fast and does not pause for you. What you design in March may need rebuilding by September. If that reads as exhausting rather than interesting, this will not suit you.

You'll Need:

- CA or CPA with real technical depth
- Claims, billing or collections at volume, run by you rather than overseen
- A team you made measurably better, including the uncomfortable parts
- AI already in your practice, not on your reading list
- Able to talk openly about decisions that went wrong

*Important Detail:

Remuneration is negotiable for someone capable of doing this properly and joining the leadership group. Brisbane, four days onsite, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer.
