BASEC Engineering is an Australian-owned multidisciplinary engineering and project management consultancy delivering infrastructure projects across NSW and QLD.

Our in-house design capability spans geotechnical, civil, structural, stormwater and temporary works engineering, supporting projects from initial site investigation and concept development through to detailed design and construction support.

We work extensively with Local Government, government agencies, contractors and infrastructure clients, with significant experience across road infrastructure, landslip remediation, slope stabilisation and natural disaster recovery projects.

Role Description

We are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer with approximately 2–5 years’ experience to join our growing Design Team.

This is a full-time role based at one of our offices (Gold Coast, Coffs Harbour, Lismore or Nambucca) with the opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of geotechnical and civil infrastructure projects throughout regional NSW and QLD.

The role will have a particular focus on geotechnical investigations, slope stability and landslip remediation, including:

- Planning and delivering geotechnical site investigations;
- Coordinating borehole and field investigation programs;
- Field logging of soil and rock conditions;
- Sampling and coordination of laboratory testing;
- Interpretation of field and laboratory investigation results;
- Development of geotechnical ground models;
- Undertaking slope stability assessments and analysis;
- Developing geotechnical design recommendations;
- Designing slope remediation and stabilisation solutions, including soil nailing, retaining structures, reinforced slopes, rockfall and slope protection measures and associated drainage;




- Preparing geotechnical calculations, technical reports, drawings and design documentation;
- Undertaking site inspections and providing technical support during construction;
- Working collaboratively with civil and structural engineers, project managers, contractors and clients; and
- Ensuring designs and technical advice comply with relevant Australian standards, project requirements and safety obligations.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on live road infrastructure, landslip remediation and disaster recovery projects, providing exposure to projects from investigation and concept development through to detailed design and construction. Qualifications & Experience

We are looking for someone with:

- Approximately 2–5 years of professional geotechnical engineering experience;
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related discipline;
- Demonstrated experience undertaking geotechnical site investigations, including field logging, sampling and interpretation of investigation data;
- Experience developing and interpreting geotechnical ground models;
- Demonstrated capability in slope stability assessment and analysis;
- Experience contributing to the design of slope remediation and stabilisation works;
- Competency with relevant geotechnical modelling and analysis software;
- Knowledge of applicable Australian standards, codes and industry practices;
- Solid technical report writing and communication skills;
- A practical, solutions-focused approach to engineering;
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices; and
- The ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.

Experience working on road infrastructure, landslide or landslip remediation, Local Government infrastructure and/or natural disaster recovery projects will be highly regarded.
