Employment type: Permanent Part time (preferred) or Casual (4–5 shifts per week, 30–38 hours)

About Us

Abode Cafe is a full table-service café in the heart of Taringa, trading 7 days a week from 7am–2pm. We're part of a growing hospitality and specialty retail operation alongside Hillsdon Grocer, and we're known for quality coffee, a warm team culture, and a genuine commitment to doing things properly.

We're looking for an experienced barista to join us, with a preference for someone who can grow into a Head Barista role — owning our coffee program, training junior staff, and helping maintain the consistency and quality we're known for.

The Role

- Prepare and serve high-quality espresso and filter coffee to a consistent standard, shift after shift
- Manage the coffee station during busy service periods with speed, accuracy, and care
- Maintain and calibrate equipment (grinders, espresso machines) to ensure consistent extraction
- Support with stock control, ordering, and rotation of coffee and related consumables
- Uphold food safety and cleanliness standards at the coffee station
- Deliver friendly, attentive customer service in line with our full table-service model
- Head Barista responsibilities (if applicable):



train and mentor junior baristas, set and maintain coffee standards, liaise with our roaster, support rostering/coverage at the coffee station

What We're Looking For
- Barista experience in a busy café environment (essential)
- Head Barista or senior barista experience highly regarded
- Excellent latte art and consistent extraction skills
- A genuine passion for coffee and hospitality
- Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
- Reliability and punctuality
- Availability across 4–5 shifts per week, totalling 30–38 hours
- Availability to work at least on weekend day (cafe trades 7am–2pm, 7 days)
- Evening dinner/bar shifts are optional — available for those interested, not a requirement of the role
- Food safety knowledge (or willingness to complete training)
