Role Overview
- Location: Port Kembla, NSW (In office)
- Contract Duration: 13 Months
- Project Start: First week of November 2026
- Project End: 31 December 2027
- Work Type: Full-Time, Project-Based
About the role The IT Technical Support primarily exists to provide on-site IT Technical Support Services, increase our end users’ IT up time by performing proactive support services and be a trusted IT advisor for all our customers.
On-site support includes, but not limited to, provisioning and maintenance of software and hardware, user profile and account configuration, incident management, user assistance and technical assistance to IT service providers and enabling effective management of incidents and services requests. This includes VIP support services and on-call 24x7 support for some sites.
Increase our end users’ IT up time with the implementation of monitoring and self-healing tools and to shift the balance of support services to more complex and value add offerings.
Deliver enhanced support experience for our customers by providing:
- Proactive service,
- personal touch service,
- actively following up and checking in,
- education and training
- collaboration and partnership
- advice and assistance just in time deliveries
Key responsibilities
- Act as a key point of contact for the business into IT by:
a. Providing relevant information on technology changes that will impact their operations. b. Understanding key challenges for ASP sites and end-users, documenting high level requirements for internal IT teams and service providers
- Provide a Tech-Bar service for IT assistance. This may include providing advice/training to users, assisting with access to self-help resources, providing level 1 support for user issues (such as hardware or application issues), helping with raising service requests or incidents etc.
- Provide onsite and remote (especially for all tier 2 & 3 sites) support for users.
- Provision and maintenance of software and hardware systems for all users.
- Provision and maintenance of Industrial hardware, which include rugged tablets (standalone and within heavy machinery), barcode scanners, printers (including label printers), non-standard devices, custom devices, CCTV systems, trunk radio systems, custom weighbridge devices and network support (including WIFI).
- Provide vendor management, requiring superior communication skills, working with vendors and businesses to fulfil incidents and requests.
- Provide assistance, guidance and support for IT and Business lead projects and initiatives
- Provide 24x7 on-call support for Tier 1 sites as required.
- Support Operational Technology staff in their projects and initiatives.
- Daily utilisation of IT Service Management tools for managing incidents, requests, changes, problems and CMDB.
- Communicate in a professional manner with end users and BSL Management regarding the status of resolution of issues
- Assist the SIAM team by providing on-site guidance and advice for problem resolution.
- Assist service providers in managing an appropriate level of spares on-site.
- Identification of incident trends and liaising with relevant service providers to actively manage recurring incidents or problems
- Assist service providers in resolving incidents and requests by providing general technical assistance on site (under instruction guidance).
- Provide VIP IT support for senior business leaders and executives.
- Educate users on appropriate use of software and hardware systems in line with policy, procedure, and best practice.
- Maintain, manage, and update relevant IT records. (Observe Change, Incident and Request fulfilment process requirements to maintain accuracy of records)
- Ensure allocated work activities are performed in line with IT operational processes and procedures, to defined time cost and quality constraints.
- Ensure customer satisfaction objectives are met for own work activities.
- Escalate any customer service issues that require management team involvement.
- Participates in process improvement initiatives as required
- Ensure all required Site Safety procedures are followed
Required qualifications and experience
- Qualifications in an IT or related discipline
- 3+ years’ experience working in IT, ideally in a technical services role.
- Experience with IT service delivery frameworks, methodologies and process implementation.
- Demonstrated ability to articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills
- Australian Driver’s licence
Required qualifications and experience
- ITIL certification and experience.
