Oakgrove Renovations is a bespoke cabinetry and joinery workshop in Wangara. We work across premium residential kitchens, wardrobes and custom cabinetry, along with commercial fitout and subcontract joinery for builders. Everything is designed and detailed in Mozaik, and built in board product (Polytec, Laminex, Formica and similar).
We are a small team, so the person in this role works directly with the owner and has a real say in how jobs are priced and put together.
About the role
You will own the estimating process from enquiry through to quote issued. That means reading plans and specifications, working out what a job actually costs to build and install, and putting together a quote that wins work at a margin we can live with. Estimating here is tied closely to how the job gets drawn and manufactured, so there is a detailing component to the role as well.
If you have come from a drafting background and want to move further into the commercial side, or you are already estimating and want to be closer to production, this will suit you.
Key responsibilities
- Review architectural plans, drawings and specifications, and take off quantities
- Price labour, materials, hardware, stone, delivery and installation
- Prepare and issue quotes, and follow them up
- Detail jobs in Mozaik so they can go to the floor without rework
- Talk to suppliers about pricing and lead times
- Work with builders, designers and homeowners to clarify scope before committing to a number
- Backcosting completed jobs so rates stay honest
About you
- Trade background in cabinetmaking or joinery, or solid estimating experience in the industry
- Ability to read and interpret plans, elevations and specifications
- Confidence with numbers, and the discipline to check your own work before it goes out
- Valuable written communication, because a lot of this job is asking the right questions early
- Australian work rights and a current driver's licence
