About Curve
Curve is a Melbourne based builder delivering high quality architectural residential and hospitality projects across Melbourne and Victoria.
Our work is design led, highly detailed and built around strong relationships with clients, architects, consultants and trades. As our project pipeline continues to grow, we're looking for a capable and motivated Contract Administrator to join our team.
This is a full time role working across our office and project sites, depending on project requirements.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Managing Directors and working closely with our delivery and site teams, you'll take responsibility for the commercial and contractual administration of projects from pre-construction through to practical completion and final claim.
This is a hands on role with genuine commercial responsibility. You'll be across project costs, procurement, subcontractor packages, variations, claims and contractual requirements, helping ensure our projects are well controlled financially and delivered in accordance with their contractual obligations.
You'll be joining a reputable builder where you'll have visibility across the full project lifecycle and the opportunity to take real ownership of your work.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer head contracts and subcontracts in accordance with contractual and statutory requirements
- Assist with project establishment, including budgets, procurement planning, contract documentation and commercial controls
- Prepare, issue and administer subcontractor and supplier packages, purchase orders and agreements
- Coordinate subcontractor procurement, including scope preparation, tender comparisons, negotiations and recommendations
- Assess and process subcontractor progress claims, variations and final accounts
- Prepare and manage client progress claims, variations, extension of time notices and other contractual correspondence
- Track project budgets, commitments, actual costs and forecast costs to complete
- Prepare and maintain project cashflow forecasts and commercial reporting
- Monitor project financial performance and identify emerging cost, scope and contractual risks
- Review drawings, specifications and project documentation to identify scope gaps, inconsistencies and commercial implications
- Manage RFIs and support the resolution of scope, design and contractual queries
- Liaise closely with clients, architects, consultants, Project Managers, site teams, subcontractors and suppliers
- Coordinate material and supplier procurement in line with project programs and budgets
- Maintain accurate contract registers, cost records, project documentation and version control
- Support project handover, defects, final claims and commercial close out
- Assist the Managing Directors and project team with broader commercial and project administration as required
About You You're practical, commercially minded and highly accountable. You bring structure to your work, communicate clearly and take ownership without needing to be closely managed.
You're comfortable getting into the detail. You understand that good contract administration means knowing where a project stands commercially, identifying issues early and making sure scope, costs, claims and contractual obligations are properly managed.
You have solid financial acumen and are confident working with budgets, cost reports, forecasts and project data. You're equally comfortable communicating with a subcontractor about a claim, working through a scope issue with a Project Manager or preparing clear information for the Directors.
We're a high standards team and value people who are hardworking, grounded, coachable and genuinely invested in delivering quality work.
What You'll Bring
- Applicant must have a minimum of 2 years' experience in a Contract Administrator role within the Australian residential or commercial construction industry
- Experience working for a builder or head contractor highly regarded
- A degree, diploma or relevant qualification in Construction Management, Building and Construction, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
- Sound understanding of construction contracts, subcontract administration and commercial construction practice
- Experience with procurement, subcontractor tendering and trade letting
- Experience administering progress claims, variations and extension of time requirements
- Strong financial and commercial acumen, including confidence working with budgets, cost reports, forecasts and cost data
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications and construction documentation
- Strong stakeholder management and problem solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organisation, and the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple projects
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple projects
- Proficiency with construction or project management software such as Wunderbuild
- Ability to work independently, take ownership and follow issues through to resolution
- A strong work ethic, grounded attitude and genuine appetite to learn and develop
Why Curve This is an opportunity to join a reputable, growing builder working on carefully considered architectural projects rather than high volume construction.
You'll work directly with the people running and delivering the business, have exposure to projects from pre-construction through to completion, and be given the responsibility and autonomy to develop your commercial capability.
