ROLE TITLE: Junior Technical SEO Specialist

REPORTING TO: SEO Lead The Opportunity:

RCJ is looking for a curious and detail-oriented Junior Technical SEO Specialist to join our growing digital team.

This role is a great opportunity for someone early in their career who wants to build their skills across SEO, websites, data and the changing world of search. You might already have some experience in SEO, digital marketing or web development, or you might be looking for an opportunity to turn what you’ve learned into your first dedicated SEO role.

Working closely with our SEO Manager and broader digital team, you’ll get hands-on exposure to keyword research, technical SEO, content optimisation, on-page recommendations, competitor analysis, performance reporting and ongoing campaign improvements.

You’ll also get exposure to the evolving future of search, including AI Visibility, generative search experiences, AI Overviews and how brands are being discovered across emerging search platforms.

We don’t expect you to know everything from day one. We’re looking for someone with a genuine interest in SEO, an analytical mindset and a willingness to learn, experiment and develop their craft.

As a multiple Mumbrella Award finalist with several new client wins, RCJ is entering an exciting phase. For the right person, this is an chance to develop practical agency experience, work across a range of clients and build a strong foundation for a career in SEO.

About you:

You’re curious about how websites work, how people find information online and why some pages perform better in search than others.

You enjoy problem-solving, working with data and getting into the detail. You might have already experimented with SEO tools, built or worked on websites, completed digital marketing projects or started teaching yourself how search engines work.

You don’t need to be an SEO expert. What matters more is that you’re interested in learning how technical SEO, content, websites and search behaviour fit together.

You’re comfortable asking questions, taking feedback and learning from people around you. You’re organised, proactive and willing to have a go at solving a problem before waiting for someone else to solve it for you.

You’re also interested in how AI is changing search, research, content and digital marketing, and you’re open to using AI tools thoughtfully as part of your day-to-day workflow.

Key responsibilities:

- Support keyword research,

competitor analysis and search intent reviews to identify SEO opportunities.
- Assist with on-page SEO recommendations across website pages, blogs, product pages and landing pages.
- Support technical SEO audits, including checks for crawlability, indexation, site structure, page speed, redirects, metadata and other website issues.
- Help investigate technical website issues and work with the SEO and development teams to identify potential solutions.
- Review website content and assist with recommendations to improve search visibility, relevance and user experience.
- Monitor organic search performance using SEO tools and analytics platforms.
- Help prepare SEO reports and turn performance data into clear insights and actions.
- Use AI tools to support research, analysis, content reviews, reporting and SEO workflows.
- Work with internal teams across SEO, content, development and digital marketing to support client campaigns.
- Learn how to use tools such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics, SEMrush, Screaming Frog and other SEO platforms.
- Keep up with developments in Google Search, AI Visibility, AI Overviews and emerging search behaviours.
- Support opportunities for clients to improve their visibility across both traditional search engines and AI-driven search experiences.
- Manage assigned SEO tasks and deadlines across a range of client accounts.

Key requirements:

- A genuine interest in SEO, websites, digital marketing and how search engines work.
- Some experience with SEO, digital marketing or web development is preferred, but not a hard requirement.
- A basic understanding of SEO principles, or a demonstrated interest in developing your knowledge of areas such as keyword research, on-page SEO, technical SEO and content optimisation.
- An analytical mindset and an interest in using data to understand problems and identify opportunities.
- Robust attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working with numbers, spreadsheets and digital platforms.
- Curious about AI and how it is changing search, content discovery and digital marketing.
- Willingness to learn new tools,

test ideas and develop new skills.
- Ability to stay organised and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Experience with tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog or similar SEO platforms is an advantage, but we don’t expect you to have used all of them.

Likewise, any experience working with websites, CMS platforms, HTML, CSS or web development is a bonus.

In return we offer:

- A competitive salary package.
- The opportunity to learn directly from experienced SEO and digital specialists.
- Hands-on experience across a diverse range of clients, websites and industries.
- Exposure to technical SEO, content, analytics, AI search and emerging areas of organic visibility.
- A vibrant, energetic and experienced team who wear their media passion on their sleeves.
- An office in the heart of Oakleigh, VIC and a workplace that offers a great work/life balance, with 4 days in the office and 1 day from home.
- Plenty of opportunity to develop your skills and grow with the role.

We are a proud values-based organisation and encourage applicants who share the same behaviours and attitudes as us. Our values are:

Conscious Community: We are at our best when we work together. Community represents our people, our clients and our partners. We are humble but love to celebrate the wins.

Own It: We do the right thing by our people and our clients and don’t make promises we can’t keep. We have a culture that encourages you to take the lead and go for it.

Never Settle: We have an underdog spirit but a champion’s mindset. We go again when we need to and don’t settle for the ordinary.

Be Bold: We are a team that doesn’t like being “vanilla”. We love to work with people who challenge more, innovate more and push for more.
