Role Description This is a part time Junior Software Developer (Entry-Level / Associate) role based in Melbourne, VIC, with a hybrid work model that allows some work from home.
The Junior Software
Developer will support the development of game features and tools, write and maintain clean code, and assist with back-end services that power mobile and desktop games. Day-to-day tasks include implementing and testing gameplay mechanics, fixing bugs, contributing to code reviews, and collaborating with designers, artists, and audio specialists to integrate game assets. The role also involves learning and applying best practices in software development, documenting code and processes, and participating in stand-ups and sprint planning.
Qualifications
- Foundational knowledge in Computer Science and Software Development, with an understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software lifecycle concepts.
- Programming skills in one or more relevant languages (e.g., C#, C++, Java, or similar) and familiarity with Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.
- Basic experience or coursework in Back-End Web Development, including APIs, databases, or server-side frameworks, is beneficial.
- Interest in game development and interactive media, with exposure to game engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal) considered an advantage.
- Ability to learn quickly, follow coding standards, and collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, with attention to detail and code quality.
- Relevant degree, diploma, or coursework in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
