Salary Range: LGO4 ($86,720 - $92,954 per annum + superannuation) based on skills, qualifications and experience

About The Role
Based on beautiful Magnetic Island, this role is responsible for undertaking investigations, inspections and approvals under State legislation and Council's Local Laws. You will work across a diverse range of regulatory areas, including:
- Animal management, including the handling of animals and promoting responsible pet ownership
- Public health and safety
- Overgrown properties
- Unauthorised use of Council land and footpath obstructions
- Other Local Law matters
While the role is primarily based on Magnetic Island, it also forms part of the broader Regulatory Services team. From time to time, support will be required on the mainland, assisting with investigations and other regulatory activities to meet operational needs across the region. You’ll be part of a team-oriented team that supports Council’s purpose of Growing Townsville, delivering outcomes aligned with our Corporate Plan and community expectations.
About You
Townsville City Council is looking for someone with a strong understanding of relevant legislation and local laws, who can confidently investigate and compile evidence for enforcement and prosecution. The ideal candidate works well independently, makes sound decisions, and is comfortable handling domesticated animals, including potentially aggressive dogs. They communicate clearly and professionally in both written and verbal forms, demonstrate effective conflict resolution and de‑escalation skills,
and are capable of working outdoors.
Flexibility to work after-hours and within a rostered schedule is also essential
