About the role The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the movement of goods from suppliers through to customers, while ensuring accurate documentation, timely shipment execution, cost control and exceptional customer service. This role works closely with suppliers, freight forwarders, warehouses, customers and internal stakeholders to deliver an efficient and reliable supply chain operation. In addition to logistics coordination, the role contributes to broader supply chain activities, process improvements and operational projects as required.
Key responsibilities
- Obtain and evaluate freight quotations, and manage freight and logistics contracts and carrier relationships — negotiating rates and terms and reviewing performance against them.
- Coordinate 3PL warehouse partners and shipment bookings across multiple destinations — inbound and outbound scheduling, service levels, and day-to-day issue resolution.
- Coordinate activity across warehouse network, communicating what's coming in and going out — and when — to keep production, sales and warehouse teams aligned.
- Liaise with freight forwarders, carriers, warehouses and suppliers, monitoring shipment progress and proactively managing delays and risks.
- Ensure customer delivery requirements and deadlines are consistently met.
- Manage storage across 3PL and core warehouse sites, including space utilisation, stock placement and inventory accuracy.
- Manage CHEP pallet account across the network — tracking, reconciling, ensuring adequate stock and minimising loss.
- Review shipping documentation for completeness and accuracy, and coordinate Bills of Lading, Packing Lists, Certificates of Origin, declarations and other trade documentation.
- Manage EDI processes and retailer-specific delivery requirements, ensuring bookings, labelling,
ASNs and delivery windows meet each retailer's compliance standards.
- Monitor freight costs and identify opportunities for savings.
About you
- 3+ years' experience in logistics, distribution or warehouse coordination, ideally within FMCG or food manufacturing.
- Working knowledge of 3PL and warehouse management, freight contracts, and CHEP or similar pallet systems.
- Experience with EDI and major retailer/distributor compliance requirements (e.g. Woolworths, Coles, Metcash).
- Comfortable preparing and reviewing trade documentation — Bills of Lading, Packing Lists, Certificates of Origin and import/export declarations.
- Exposure to import/export logistics, customs, freight forwarding and cost items like detention and demurrage highly regarded.
- Strong communicator, comfortable coordinating and reporting across production, sales, warehouse, freight and customer stakeholders.
- A proactive, hands-on problem solver who stays calm when deliveries or timelines shift at short notice.
