Role Description This part time, on-site role in Melbourne, VIC combines responsibilities of Medical Secretary, Medical Receptionist, and Registered Nurse to support smooth clinic operations and high-quality patient care. Day-to-day tasks include greeting and registering patients, answering phone and email inquiries, managing appointment scheduling, and maintaining accurate medical records. The role also involves coordinating referrals, preparing patient files for consultations and procedures, and assisting with billing and clerical duties in a busy medical office workplace.
As a Registered Nurse,
responsibilities may include conducting basic clinical assessments, preparing patients for procedures, supporting infusions and other treatments under clinical direction, and providing patient education on gastroenterology-related conditions and therapies. The position requires collaboration with specialists and other clinical staff to ensure efficient workflow and a respectful, supportive experience for all patients.
Qualifications
- Strong administrative and clerical skills, including experience in a medical office environment and accurate typing.
- Proficiency in appointment scheduling, patient registration, and coordination of referrals and follow-up visits.
- Solid understanding of medical terminology, particularly gastroenterology-related terms, and ability to interpret clinical documentation.
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse (or eligibility for registration) with relevant clinical experience, preferably in gastroenterology or a related area.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to patient-centered care and education.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy specialist clinic.
- Competence with practice management software, electronic medical records, and general computer applications.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and maintain confidentiality and professional standards at all times.
