Melbourne or Sydney | Executive Leadership role

What if the next step in your career as a disputes lawyer wasn't about running bigger matters or billing more hours – but building a better disputes business?

My client is a progressive national law firm that has deliberately challenged the traditional law firm model. No individual billable-hour targets. No individual financial budgets. Team-based success, smarter service delivery and a huge investment in latest technology, innovation and doing things differently.

They are now looking for an exceptional leader to head one of the firm's largest and fastest-growing practice areas.

This is not a traditional Head of Disputes role.

While you will bring a robust disputes and litigation background, the role is predominantly off the tools . Your value won't be measured by the matters you personally run, but by the business you build, the clients you develop, the people you lead and how effectively you scale the practice. Think business leader first, litigator second.

Working closely with the CEO and supported by experienced senior lawyers and team leaders, you will:





- own the strategy, growth and commercial performance of the practice;
- build and deepen key client and referrer relationships;
- lead, develop and create accountability across a sizeable team;
- understand the P&L; and identify the levers for sustainable growth; and
- drive smarter ways of working through process improvement, technology, automation and AI.

You may be a Partner, Principal, senior in-house lawyer/General Counsel or legal leader. What matters is demonstrated experience in building a practice or business, growing client relationships, leading teams and improving how legal services are delivered. This role is about commerciality, leadership, client engagement, strategy and an ability to turn ideas into action.
