About the role
This role will support the General Counsel and broader legal team across a wide range of legal, compliance, governance and operational matters. The successful candidate will assist with the delivery of legal services throughout the business, support the implementation and maintenance of compliance frameworks, contribute to commercial and corporate projects, and help drive the adoption of technology, automation and AI-enabled legal processes across the organisation.

Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations
- Assist with the drafting, review, negotiation and administration of a broad range of legal documents, including NDAs, customer and supplier agreements, reseller and distribution arrangements, manufacturing and services agreements, employment documentation, corporate documents and other commercial contracts
- Support the legal team in providing practical legal advice on a range of commercial, corporate, compliance, employment, intellectual property, privacy, export control and regulatory matters
- Assist with the development, implementation and ongoing maintenance of legal and compliance frameworks, policies, procedures and governance processes across the business
- Conduct legal research and prepare summaries, briefings and guidance materials on legislative, regulatory and industry developments affecting DroneShield's operations globally
- Support contract lifecycle management activities, including contract administration, document management, obligations tracking and maintenance of legal precedents and templates
- Assist with third-party onboarding, due diligence and risk assessments for customers, suppliers, contractors, distributors, resellers, advisors and strategic partners
- Support legal input into tenders, customer proposals, procurement activities, strategic projects and corporate transactions
- Assist with communications and engagement with Australian and international regulators, government agencies and external advisors where required
- Support internal investigations, audits, compliance reviews and risk management initiatives.
- Assist with the development and implementation of legal technology solutions, document automation initiatives, AI-enabled workflows and other digital transformation projects designed to improve efficiency, scalability and operational excellence within the legal function
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to streamline legal processes, increase automation and enhance knowledge management across the legal team
- Undertake other legal, compliance,
governance and administrative responsibilities as reasonably directed by the General Counsel
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- Final year Bachelor of Laws (LLB) student or holder of a completed Bachelor of Laws degree
- Previous experience in a legal support, paralegal, legal operations or similar role is desirable, preferably within an in-house legal team or a law firm servicing corporate, technology, defence or regulated industry clients
- Strong interest in commercial law, corporate governance, compliance, technology and legal operations
- Demonstrated ability to analyse legal issues, conduct research and communicate findings clearly and effectively.
- Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
- Interest in legal technology, process improvement, document automation, AI tools and digital transformation initiatives
- Commercially minded with a practical approach to problem solving
- Robust written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders across the business
- Proactive, adaptable and capable of operating effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment
- Experience or interest in defence, aerospace, telecommunications, export controls, government contracting or regulated technology industries will be highly regarded
