About the role

Merge Marketing is building a network of freelance photographers and videographers across Australia. You shoot the venue, colour grade the content, we handle the strategy and the brief. Work comes to you project by project rather than on a roster.

Most shoots are half a day or a full day on site: a new menu, a refurbished room, a function space set for an event, a festival in full swing, or a launch that needs both stills and short form video. You are shooting for social, paid campaigns and websites, so we need content that works vertically and horizontally.

Key responsibilities

- Shoot food and beverage: plated dishes, share tables, cocktails and coffee, shot in the venue rather than a studio and shot fast, because the kitchen has a service to run
- Capture rooms and spaces: hotel rooms, suites, restaurant interiors, function rooms and pool decks, capturing the feel of the space rather than just the floor plan
- Shoot atmosphere and people: a full room on a Friday night, staff in service, guests enjoying themselves, with the discretion to shoot around real customers
- Cover events and launches: openings, festivals, degustations and function nights, often with a short turnaround because the client wants it live the same week
- Create short form video: vertical content built for Instagram, TikTok and paid social,

- Deliver reliable turnaround on edited files, usually within a few days of the shoot

About you

- A portfolio that shows lifestyle, hospitality, food, venue or travel work
- Your own camera, basic lighting and lenses
- The ability to shoot both stills and video on the same visit
- An understanding of how content performs on social and in paid campaigns, not just how it looks on a portfolio site
- Editing and grading of stills and short videos
- Professionalism on site working around live service, real guests and venue staff who are busy
- An ABN and your own public liability insurance
- Desirable: Drone footage and a current RePL or ReOC where required
- Desirable: Experience shooting for hotel groups or multi venue operators
- Desirable: Your own lighting kit for darker interiors and evening service
