Position: Principal Mining Engineer
Location: Any Australian office
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Principal Hydrogeologist to join our team in any of our office location in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth. You will provide high-level technical expertise across a diverse range of mining, resources and environmental projects. The role will lead hydrogeological studies, provide technical advice to clients and project teams, and contribute to the delivery of high-quality solutions across the project lifecycle.

Salary The salary package offered for this position will be commensurate with the skills and experience of the successful candidate.
Skills And Competencies
Core functions
- Lead and manage hydrogeological studies and investigations from concept through to delivery.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to project teams.
- Design and oversee groundwater investigations, monitoring programs, field studies and data collection.
- Develop conceptual and numerical groundwater models and interpret hydrogeological data.
- Assess groundwater resources, dewatering requirements, mine water management and groundwater impacts.
- Prepare technical reports, assessments, feasibility studies and supporting documentation.
- Provide specialist advice to mining and resources clients on groundwater-related risks and opportunities.
- Manage project scopes, budgets, schedules and deliverables.
- Engage with clients, regulators, consultants and other project stakeholders.
- Support business development, proposal preparation and client relationship management.
- Review technical work and ensure projects meet quality, safety and regulatory requirements.

- Strong technical expertise across hydrogeology and groundwater assessment.
- Proven ability to lead complex technical projects and multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong understanding of groundwater modelling, data analysis and interpretation.

Qualifications And Experience
- Possession of a Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Mining Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum 10 - 15 years’ experience in Mining Hydrogeology
- Postgraduate qualification in hydrogeology or a related field is desirable.
- Significant professional experience in hydrogeology, preferably within the mining and resources sector.
- Demonstrated experience leading hydrogeological investigations and complex projects.
- Experience with groundwater modelling software and hydrogeological data analysis.
- Strong understanding of mine water management, groundwater systems and dewatering.
- Previous experience in a consulting environment is highly desirable.
- Professional membership/accreditation with a relevant industry body is desirable.
- Current Australian working rights, where applicable.
