About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineering Manager with specialist expertise in Make to Order (MTO) HVAC equipment design (focusing on Air Handling Units (AHU) and Data Centre related products) to join our Manufacturing division.

In this pivotal leadership role, you will lead the project engineering team responsible for the development, design, and delivery of locally manufactured MTO projects. You will ensure all product designs are fully optimised for manufacturability, quality, performance, safety, and compliance with relevant Australian standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead, mentor, and manage the performance, development, and safety culture of the project engineering team to achieve key manufacturing KPIs (SQCDE).




- Lead design reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering activities to optimize product performance, cost-efficiency, and ease of manufacturing.
- Deliver timely and accurate engineering drawings, 3D models, technical documentation, and cost estimates for MTO HVAC solutions to support sales activity.
- Product Compliance & Standards: Ensure all products comply strictly with relevant Australian standards, building codes, and regulations.
- Partner closely with production, quality control, procurement, R&D;, and global Daikin manufacturing teams to support manufacturing processes and resolve technical challenges.

About You To be successful in this role, you will bring strong engineering leadership experience and deep technical expertise in custom HVAC product design.

- Tertiary degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical Engineering). Skilled accreditation (e.g., CPEng, MIEAust) is highly advantageous.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role within a Make to Order (MTO) manufacturing environment.
- Proven track record in HVAC design (specifically AHUs and related custom equipment), solid understanding of airflow dynamics, thermodynamics, and acoustics, and proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Revit).
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing,



Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA), and sustainable/energy-efficient design practices.
- Outstanding project management, problem-solving, customer focus, and communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
