QA Tester / Junior QA Tester (Entry / Junior Level)

Role Description We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and inquisitive QA Tester / Junior QA Tester to join our software engineering team to support software quality assurance, test execution, and defect tracking. In this entry-to-junior level position, you will work closely with QA Leads, Software Developers, Systems Engineers, and Product Managers to ensure web, mobile, or desktop applications meet specified functional requirements and high usability standards. You will be responsible for reviewing technical specifications, creating test cases, executing manual test runs, and documenting software bugs with clear reproduction steps.

Responsibilities include running functional, regression, smoke, and exploratory testing cycles, logging defects into issue-tracking systems, validating bug fixes, and supporting basic test automation script maintenance. Success in this position requires a structured technical mindset, sharp attention to detail, basic understanding of software testing methodologies, clear communication, and a passion for delivering seamless end-user digital experiences.

Qualifications

- Education: Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline; ISTQB Foundation Level certification is an advantage.
- QA & Testing Fundamentals: Foundational understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), test planning, test case design techniques, and quality assurance principles.
- Test Case Execution & Manual Testing:



Hands-on experience or academic coursework in writing detailed test scripts, executing manual test passes, conducting exploratory testing, and performing smoke/regression suites.
- Defect Tracking & Management: Familiarity with issue-tracking and project management software (e.g., Jira, Bugzilla, Azure DevOps, Trello, or Redmine) to report, prioritize, and re-test reported bugs.
- Software Platforms & Testing Types: Basic exposure to testing across diverse environments (Web browsers, iOS/Android mobile applications, desktop OS) covering functional, UI/UX, integration, and cross-browser testing.
- Basic API & Technical Tools: Conceptual understanding or basic experience using developer tools (e.g., Chrome DevTools, Postman, cURL) to inspect HTTP requests/responses, console errors, and network traffic.
- Database & SQL Basics: Fundamental knowledge of relational database concepts and easy SQL queries (SELECT, WHERE, JOIN) to verify backend data state and test execution results.
- Test Automation & Scripting (Desirable): Academic exposure or introductory experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or Appium) or basic scripting capabilities (Python, JavaScript, Java).
- Technical Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to write clear, reproducible bug reports and collaborate effectively with software developers and product owners.
