Orthonova is a collaboration between St John of God Health Care and a group of Perth’s leading orthopaedic surgeons and will deliver a superbly comfortable, individualised patient experience, underpinned by the highest standards of clinical quality and safety.

Opening in early 2027, the centre will set the standard for quality orthopaedic care, supported by clinician input and world-leading technology. The vision is to build a unique centre which is the benchmark in expert, personalised orthopaedic care and education, and at the forefront of technology and sustainability in healthcare.

Once complete the centre will comprise of:

Four advanced operating theatres38 overnight beds20 chair day surgery and day of surgery loungeA dedicated entry and seamless support services integrated with St John of God Murdoch Hospital with the two hospitals connected via a linking bridge

The new state of the art facility will have a unique presence in the growing Murdoch precinct that will embody sustainability and technology while delivering an unmatched patient experience.

The role

Orthonova presents an exciting opportunity for experienced Nurse Practitioners to join our purpose-built orthopaedic centre located at St John of God Murdoch Hospital. We are seeking Nurse Practitioners who are ideally looking for permanent part-time hours, however we can offer up to 38 hours a week in a full time capacity.

This advanced practice role is ideal for a clinician passionate about orthopaedics and sports medicine, who thrives in delivering exceptional patient care while providing clinical leadership and expert consultancy across the patient journey.

Working collaboratively with Orthopaedic Consultants, Anaesthetists and the multidisciplinary healthcare team, you will provide advanced nursing care including complex physical assessments, clinical decision-making, management of patient deterioration, therapeutic interventions, discharge planning and medication prescribing within your scope of practice.

You will support patients throughout their journey, from pre-admission and inpatient care through to post-discharge follow-up,



ensuring outstanding clinical outcomes and patient experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis and care planning within orthopaedic and sports medicine specialties. Provide expert clinical leadership, consultation and support to nursing and medical teams. Respond to and manage complex and deteriorating patient presentations. Prescribe medications and implement therapeutic interventions within defined scope of practice. Support safe, timely discharge planning and continuity of care. Work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient outcomes. Contribute to service development, quality improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives

The successful candidate will hold AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse and hold current endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA). You will demonstrate extensive post-registration nursing experience, with the ability to demonstrate expert knowledge and advanced clinical skills.

You will demonstrate advanced clinical leadership capability, with a proven ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary healthcare teams. You will possess strong mentoring, problem-solving and decision-making skills, enabling them to support colleagues, influence best practice and drive positive patient outcomes. The role requires the ability to plan, develop and deliver education programs for both patients and staff, fostering learning and continuous career development.

A commitment to evidence-based practice is essential, with the capability to critically evaluate and integrate research findings, contemporary clinical evidence and best practice standards into patient care,



service delivery and clinical practice improvement initiatives.

A proven track record in leadership and the ability to educate and influence clinical practice are essential.
