The Internal and External Committees section provides high-level support to the ACIC Board and National Policing Systems Subcommittee, for board member agencies, and internal and external governance committees.
The Assistant Director, Internal and External Committees plays a pivotal role in driving effective governance and collaboration across the agency’s internal and external committees. Your responsibilities will include coordinating high-level support to internal and external committees, providing strategic advice to senior executives and ensuring decision-making is well-supported with accurate briefing materials. You will be highly organised, able to adapt to a dynamic workload, comfortable working independently and as part of a team, operate effectively under pressure to meet deadlines, and preserve the confidentiality of sensitive information.
The key duties of the position include:
As an Assistant Director Internal and External Committees, you will:
• Provide high-level Secretariat support to internal and external committees, including the management and coordination of committee operations.
• Develop accurate and effective briefing materials to support the delivery of committee objectives and remit.
• Ensure adherence to appropriate internal secretariat processes and governance arrangements.
• Review, develop and update team standard operating procedures to ensure committee operations are transparent, repeatable and efficient, while also effectively supporting strategic governance outcomes.
• Lead and develop staff through training and coaching, performance feedback and career development.
Your Skills and Capabilities

• Proven negotiation, liaison, representation and stakeholder management abilities across various internal and external audiences.
• Solid organisational and prioritisation skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to dynamic workloads, work independently and meet deadlines.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
• Experience in managing a small team to achieve successful outcomes.
Desirable skills and experience
• Recent experience delivering governance and secretariat support
Eligibility
• Citizenship – To be eligible for employment with the ACIC, applicants must be an Australian citizen.
• Security Clearance - The Australian community expects ACIC employees to maintain the highest levels of security and integrity. Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance.
• Pre-Employment Screening – All candidates must satisfy an Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to being offered employment at the ACIC.
