About us:

The Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service (CHHHS) Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs (MHAOD) Service is leading the way in innovative perinatal mental health care. As pioneers of an Australian-first model, we are proud to deliver the Perinatal Acute Mental Health Hospital in the Home (PAMH-HITH) program, providing women and birthing people experiencing severe and acute perinatal mental illness with specialist, hospital-level care close to home.

This service is designed to operate as a virtual inpatient bed admission model, where consumers receive hospital-equivalent care in their home environment rather than within a traditional inpatient unit or Mother and Baby Unit (MBU) as a proposed interim model designed to meet the care needs of the community until a time when a physical MBU can be established in the Cairns and Hinterland region.

About your role:

- Provide specialist perinatal mental health inpatient level care (including assessment and intervention) to perinatal women, infants and their families/carers/supporters in their home environment.
- Provide effective leadership, coordination and daily operation of the PAMH-HITH service including clinical leadership and expert advice to other team members and stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain team-oriented partnerships between the CHHHS MHAODS, relevant CHHHS/Qld Health services, Government, Non-Government and private service providers to enhance service delivery to perinatal women and their families.
