About us:
The Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service (CHHHS) Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs (MHAOD) Service is leading the way in creative perinatal mental health care. As pioneers of an Australian-first model, we are proud to deliver the Perinatal Acute Mental Health Hospital in the Home (PAMH-HITH) program, providing women and birthing people experiencing severe and acute perinatal mental illness with specialist, hospital-level care close to home.
This service is designed to operate as a virtual inpatient bed admission model, where consumers receive hospital-equivalent care in their home environment rather than within a traditional inpatient unit or Mother and Baby Unit (MBU) as a proposed interim model designed to meet the care needs of the community until a time when a physical MBU can be established in the Cairns and Hinterland region.
Join a passionate, multidisciplinary team that is redefining perinatal mental health care and improving outcomes for women, babies and families across Central Queensland.
We're committed to improving the health and wellbeing of people in Far North Queensland by providing high quality acute health care services.
About your role:
- Manage an allocated workload to deliver perinatal mental health clinical services, including assessment, intervention and evaluation within a multi-disciplinary team in accordance with established clinical & departmental protocols, policies and procedures, utilising evidence-based practice and ethical standards.
- Liaise and work effectively in a professional manner with clients and their carers,
other health professionals, students and external agencies to achieve a consumer centred approach, utilising negotiation and conflict resolution skills as required.
- Continually develop clinical practice knowledge, skills and expertise through self-directed learning, active learning within a team environment and engaging in professional development activities, including participating in the performance appraisal and development plans.
- Provide education, direction and supervision for routine tasks to less experienced staff, students and support staff, with the support of senior clinical staff. Where appropriate, act as primary supervisor for student training.
For more information about this role, please refer to the attached Role Description.
Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) evidence as required for your employment in accordance with legislation/government policy and Directives.
