Youth Program Facilitator

- Max-Term until 30 July 2027
- Part-Time opportunity, 0.6 FTE
- Location: Rockingham

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Youth Program Facilitator will work in the Defence Kids program, providing early intervention and prevention services and resources aimed at improving children’s wellbeing and development and supporting the capacity of those in parenting role. This will be achieved through the delivery of during and/or after school programs for children aged 8-12 years and the provision of support to their families, teachers and other significant people in their lives

DUTIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Facilitate Defence Kids – Plan and facilitate a culturally secure, during school and/or after school program, aimed at developing emotional resilience and self-regulation for children of Defence families aged 8-12 years.
2. Use Strengths Based practices to improve wellbeing and resilience of children between the ages of 8-12.
3. Engage with and involve families, through family friendly support sessions and provide resources to families that aid in managing deployments, relocations and other stressors.
4. Develop effective resources, programs and/or services that address the mental, emotional and practical needs of Defence families.
5. Maintain collaborative networks and relationships with key stakeholders.
6. Ensure accurate and timely record keeping.

ABOUT YOU

Knowledge and Skills

- Relevant qualifications and/or experience working with the target group or in a similar position in Community Services/Youth Work/Teaching or Social Work.
- Strong analytical skills that demonstrate an ability to identify and clarify issues and generate strategies to address them.
- Intermediate/Proficient Administration level of competency.
- Intermediate IT level of competency.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with people from diverse backgrounds and ages individually and in groups.




- Excellent organisational skills including the ability to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines and manage multiple caseloads.
- Understand, and honour, the histories, cultures and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
- Understanding of legislative and regulatory requirements related to the work environment.
- Understanding of the imperatives of working in a school environment.
- Knowledge and skill to model the Family Partnership approach.

Role requirements

- Ability to work across other Ngala sites as required.
- Possession of a current National Police Certificate.
- Possession of current WA driver’s licence.
- Possession of current Working with Children check
