About You
The Advisor, Risk Intelligence and Engagement supports the Global Resilience Office (GRO) to strengthen RMIT's understanding of global risks and build awareness of research security and resilience across the University. Working under the guidance of the Manager, Intelligence and Resilience, the role undertakes research and monitoring, contributes to intelligence reports and briefings, maintains risk information and knowledge resources, and supports training, communications and educational activities. You will gather and analyse information from a range of sources, prepare written products for different audiences, coordinate enquiries and activities, and contribute to projects that help staff understand and respond to emerging global risks. Working with stakeholders across RMIT, you will contribute to a growing and strategically important function that builds the University's capability to navigate an increasingly complex global environment. We recognise that relevant experience can be gained through professional, academic and community settings, and encourage you to apply even if you do not meet every requirement. Prior experience in communications is preferred.
To be successful in this position, you'll have:
- A degree in international relations, intelligence or security studies, political science, or a closely related field - reflecting a foundational understanding of the geopolitical, regulatory, and security environment relevant to GRO's work.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct research and analysis - gathering, synthesising, and clearly communicating complex information in written products (reports, briefings, summaries) for diverse audiences including non-specialists.
- Genuine interest in geopolitics, national security, or Indo-Pacific affairs, with a commitment to developing specialist knowledge in global risk intelligence under supervision.
- Good written communication and content development skills, with demonstrated ability to produce clear, well-structured written materials including reports, guidance documents, or training resources.
- Strong organisational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, coordinate activities, maintain accurate records, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative working style and good interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with academic, professional, and external stakeholders.
- Strong digital communication skills (building SharePoint, etc.)
Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.
