As Production Planner, you'll own every order from the moment it arrives to the moment it hits the floor. You'll be the first dedicated resource in our Production Control function — classifying, routing, scheduling, and tracking every job across our machine shop, new builds, and repairs streams. This isn't a maintenance role. You'll be building the processes, systems, and schedule structure the business needs to operate at its best.
Key responsibilities
- Own the inbox — manage all incoming production orders, classify each one, and route it to the right stream without delay
- Build and run the schedule — develop a fully functioning multi-layered production schedule in JIWA across all production streams
- Coordinate across the team — work daily with the Production Coordinator, Production Engineer, Workshop Supervisor, Warehouse, and Purchasing Officer to keep jobs moving
- Manage priorities — make the call on what goes first when resources are constrained; challenge due dates that aren't achievable
- Track external contractors — know where every outsourced job is and chase anything overdue
- Protect the customer — flag delivery risks before they become problems and escalate early
About you
- 5+ years in production planning or scheduling within a manufacturing workplace
- Proven experience building a production schedule from scratch — not just maintaining one
- Strong understanding of resource and capacity planning across multiple streams
- Ability to read, interpret, and classify raw manufacturing orders
- ERP experience in a manufacturing module (JIWA a bonus; any manufacturing ERP considered)
- Comfortable operating with imperfect data in a build-phase environment
- Practical understanding of machining, fabrication, or valve manufacturing
- Self-directed, methodical, and calm when the schedule gets disrupted
- Comfortable on the floor, not just behind a desk
- Communicate directly and build systems that last rather than quick fixes
