Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery, improvement, research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services. On 1 January 2026, Alfred Health will come together with Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service to create Bayside Health, a newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians. The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce, providing current training, education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

Department

Alfred Mental & Addiction Health (AMAH) is responsible for the operation of services which focus on people with a mental illness residing in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne.

About the role

Are you passionate about making a difference in the mental health sector? The newly integrated Adult and Older Adult Department combines the strengths of AMAH Adult Community Mental Health and Caulfield Aged and Liaison Psychiatry Services. Our mission is to provide comprehensive, person-centred support to adults and older adults through an expansive range of therapeutic, addiction, trauma-informed, and family violence services.





As part of our commitment to the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health recommendations and the Victorian Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022, we’re expanding our offerings to ensure clients benefit from specialist expertise alongside access to innovative, broad-spectrum care options. This includes specialized pathways for substance use disorders, rehabilitation and recovery, physical and mental health integration, and trauma-focused services.

Our department focuses on integrated treatment, education, peer support, care planning, and navigation services, designed to support individuals through every stage of their recovery journey.

About you

- Minimum 5 years’ experience
- Approved tertiary qualifications and registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board via AHPRA
- Sound knowledge of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022 and other relevant Legislation and their relevance to this client population
- Demonstrated competence in the provision of a full range of mental health services including: mental state and psychological assessments (including crisis assessments), individual family and group, treatments for clients presenting with a range of behavioural, emotional, social or developmental issues, including psychosis and alcohol and other drug issues
- A current driver’s licence is required to undertake this role
- Australian working rights, current Influenza vaccination and be willing to undertake a background check
