Join our Infrastructure Maintenance Team and help keep our community moving.
Council is seeking a capable and motivated Team Member Road Surfacing to join our multi-disciplined maintenance team. This hands-on role will contribute to the construction and maintenance of Council’s infrastructure assets, with a primary focus on sealed road repair and maintenance operations.
You’ll be part of a practical, supportive team where no two days are necessarily the same. Depending on work programs and operational priorities, you may also be deployed across other maintenance crews and activities.
About the Role
In this role, you will:
- Operate and maintain a range of medium-complexity plant, vehicles, equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
- Undertake civil construction and maintenance labouring activities, including frequent physical work, heavy lifting and bending.
- Support sealed road repair and maintenance works to recognised standards and Council requirements.
- Work effectively as part of a multi-disciplined team while also being able to work under general supervision.
- Maintain positive working relationships with Council employees, contractors, councillors and members of the public.
- Contribute to a positive safety culture by identifying hazards,
following safe work procedures and participating in relevant training and initiatives.
- Look for opportunities to improve work practices, procedures and service delivery.
- Embrace technology and support initiatives that improve the effectiveness of Council’s mobile workforce.
- Respond professionally and appropriately to requests and operational issues, using sound judgement and maintaining Council’s reputation.
- Undertake other relevant duties within the scope of the position as required.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is reliable, safety-focused and practical, with the skills and attitude to contribute positively to a busy maintenance team.
You will demonstrate:
- Experience and competence in operating plant, vehicles, equipment and tools.
- The physical capability, agility and dexterity required to undertake civil maintenance and labouring activities.
- A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
- The ability to work cooperatively and maintain harmonious relationships with colleagues and members of the public.
- The ability to work effectively under general supervision while taking responsibility for completing assigned tasks to a high standard.
- A willingness to learn, adapt and contribute to continuous improvement.
Essential Requirements
- Current Queensland HR Class Driver Licence.
- Current Construction Industry White Card / Blue Card.
- Demonstrated ability to safely and proficiently operate a broad range of plant, vehicles, equipment and tools.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake physically demanding labouring duties, including frequent heavy lifting and bending.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
The following will be highly regarded:
- Experience or knowledge of civil construction and maintenance activities.
- Current Queensland HC Class Driver Licence.
- Roller Operator competency.
- Civil Construction Skid Steer Loader competency (RIIMP0318D).
- RIIWHS302D Implement Traffic Plans – Level 2 competency.
