Scotford Fennessy Recruitment
Perth
Scotford Fennessy are seeking an experienced and hands-on Site Supervisor for an initial 4-month contract through to the end of December, supporting a Pilbara-based mining operation on a 2 weeks on, 1 week off FIFO roster from Perth.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, autonomy and taking ownership of day-to-day site activities. Working within a smaller site environment, you will support both care and maintenance and exploration activities, while overseeing a small maintenance team and coordinating contractors, visitors and general site requirements.
The operation forms part of an established copper-zinc exploration and development project in the Pilbara.
The Role
Reporting to the Site Manager, you will be responsible for the secure and effective coordination of day-to-day site activities, including:
- Supervising and supporting a small care and maintenance team
- Assisting with maintenance of site equipment, vehicles, buildings and infrastructure
- Supporting maintenance of irrigation infrastructure, pumps and associated systems
- Coordinating maintenance contractors and site service providers
- Supporting an exploration team of 10+ personnel
- Coordinating site visits from employees, contractors and other stakeholders
- Managing and maintaining site camp and kitchen facilities
- Undertaking regular inspections of site equipment and surrounding infrastructure
- Managing stock levels and consumables
- Coordinating regular supply runs to regional centres
- Maintaining site access and supporting site security requirements
- Maintaining accurate records including fuel deliveries and usage, maintenance activities, visitor logs and inspections
- Promoting a strong safety culture and proactively identifying and managing site risks
- Assisting with other operational and site requirements as required
About You
This role would suit a practical, resourceful individual with a trade or mechanical background who is comfortable working autonomously and taking responsibility across a broad range of site activities.
Ideally, you will have:
- Previous mine site experience, ideally within the Pilbara
- Trade or strong mechanical maintenance background
- Experience with medium to large-scale irrigation networks and pumps
- Exposure to mobile plant and relevant equipment
- Previous supervisory, leading hand or site coordination experience
- Current Manual Driver's Licence
- Current First Aid certification
- Strong safety awareness and the ability to identify and manage site risks
- Good organisational, record-keeping and basic computer skills, including Outlook, Word and Excel
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with employees, contractors and other stakeholders
- The ability to work autonomously within a small remote-site team
- A flexible, hands-on and resourceful approach to work
Highly regarded:
- DMPE Statutory Supervisor accreditation, or willingness to work towards obtaining it
- Telehandler ticket, or willingness to obtain
- Previous Pilbara experience
This isn't a role where you'll be sitting behind a desk managing a large maintenance crew. We're looking for someone who is comfortable getting involved, solving problems and taking ownership of what needs to be done across a smaller remote mining operation.
If you're an experienced Leading Hand or Supervisor looking for a varied site-based opportunity with plenty of autonomy, we'd like to hear from you.
