Safety & HR Coordinator
BEST ON GROUND LANDSCAPING
- Full time role (Mon - Fri 7am to 3:30pm)
- Hybrid role - work from home & travel to job sites around Melb.
- $ Salary + super commensurate with experience.

The Role
We are looking for an experienced, proactive, down-to-earth, and hands-on WH&S; and Human Resources Coordinator to join our team, partnering with the Director and Operations Manager and working closely with our Site Team leaders, landscaping crews and apprentices.
You will help manage HR functions and employee lifecycle, drive a positive safety culture, ensure legislative and company compliance, and support continuous safety improvement initiatives and training across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in conducting safety activities, such as safety inspections and housekeeping audits.
- Support incident/hazard response, investigations, briefings and the follow-up of corrective actions.
- Support the business to achieve OH&S; and regulatory compliance with relevant applicable legislation (inc. Heavy vehicle national laws - HVNL, emissions, noise,
psychosocial, etc) by monitoring and implementing appropriate initiatives.
- Maintain and assist with the development of safety documentation, including Site safety management plans, SWMS and risk assessments.
- Support the ongoing management and improvement of Occupational Health & Safety and Human Resources plans, policies and procedures.
- Assist with safety communications (inc Toolbox Talks), inhouse and external training initiatives, consultation and promoting a strong safety culture across the business.
- Provide practical HR and Safety advice and recommendations to Management and support to site teams.
- HR Administration, apprenticeship and compliance activities
- Assist with Fleet & Equipment management and compliance (Plant machinery, Trucks, Utes – services, risk assessments, prestarts checklists, etc)
- Liaise with Clients, Sub-contractors, Suppliers and their safety representatives as required.
- Co-ordinate and participate in management and team meetings.
- Assist with Client (job site) tracking spreadsheets.
About You
You are someone who enjoys building relationships with people and helping create a safe and engaged workplace. You have a proactive mindset, enjoy solving problems,
and are comfortable spending time on customer sites our manufacturing and warehouse environments to partner with leaders and support the team.
You'll ideally have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resource Management, Workplace Health & Safety or a related discipline (min Cert 4).
- Minimum 2-3+ years' experience in a Safety and/or Generalist HR role within landscaping/construction industry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong working relationships.
- High levels of integrity and discretion when handling confidential or sensitive information.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- A professional and positive approach.
- Good proficiency in the Microsoft365 Office Suite, including Onedrive.
- Knowledge of construction safety management software is an advantage (examples: Hammertech, Procore, Rapid Global, Verfiorce, etc).
- Initiative, self-motivation and the confidence to work autonomously while contributing as part of a collaborative team.
- Current drivers licence and reliable vehicle.
