Boab Metals Limited is progressing the development of the Sorby Hills Project, located 50 km northeast of Kununurra in the East Kimberley. Sorby Hills is Australia's largest undeveloped near-surface lead–silver deposit, supported by granted mining leases, EPA approval, and proximity to established infrastructure, including Wyndham Port only 150 km away. With permitting and infrastructure already in place, Sorby Hills is uniquely positioned for fast-track production. Alongside Sorby Hills, Boab is actively exploring its 100%-owned Manbarrum and Eight Mile Creek prospects, strengthening our growth pipeline across the region.
About the role
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Construction Manager to join the Sorby Hills Project on a 1-year fixed-term contract. Reporting directly to the Senior Site Executive, you will lead the planning, coordination and delivery of critical civil infrastructure works, including the Tailings Storage Facility (TSF), water management dams, drainage systems and associated bulk earthworks. This role will be responsible for ensuring construction activities are executed safely, efficiently and in accordance with project specifications, schedules and budget objectives, while providing strong leadership to contractors and site teams during a key phase of project development.
Key responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision of all TSF, dam, drainage and associated earthworks construction activities.
- Manage contractor performance to ensure delivery against project schedules, budgets and quality expectations.
- Build and maintain a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with site safety systems, policies and procedures.
- Coordinate construction interfaces across engineering, geology, environment, operations and project teams.
- Review construction methodologies and ensure works are delivered in accordance with approved plans and specifications.
- Monitor project progress and proactively identify and resolve issues that may impact schedule, cost or quality outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, environmental and regulatory obligations relevant to mining and civil construction activities.
- Drive quality assurance and quality control processes, including inspections, audits and verification of completed works.
- Participate in project planning, forecasting and reporting activities, providing regular updates to the Senior Site Executive.
- Support the development of construction strategies and continuous improvement initiatives across the project.
About you
- Relevant qualifications in Engineering, Construction Management, Civil Construction or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in the construction and commissioning of Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs) within a mining environment.
- Extensive experience delivering earthworks, embankments, water retention structures, dams, drainage systems and associated civil infrastructure.
- Proven ability to lead and manage contractors and multidisciplinary site teams in remote construction environments.
- Strong knowledge of mining construction practices, project delivery methodologies and contractor management processes.
- Sound understanding of environmental compliance requirements and water management infrastructure.
- Experience working within quality management and assurance frameworks.
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong planning, organisational and problem-solving capability.
- A commitment to achieving exceptional safety outcomes.
