The Senior Laboratory Technician role is practical and hands-on, with a strong emphasis on the application of a range of chemical analyses, including:
Wet chemistry (titrations)
Electroanalytical techniques
Spectroscopy
ICP – mass spectrometry.
Key responsibilities
Conduct chemical and physical laboratory tests of liquids and solids
Process and prepare samples and chemical solutions
Maintain the calibration of laboratory equipment
Monitor product quality and production processes
Prepare detailed reports, charts and diagrams to communicate results
Support innovations in chemical products and processes
Develop and validate methods for analytical purposes
Key requirements
Bachelor's degree in Science majoring in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry or Chemical Technology
Practical laboratory experience undertaking sample preparation, testing and analysis tasks
Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent organisational skills including the ability to take accountability for the accurate and timely completion of tasks
Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively within a small team workplace
Knowledge and understanding of Quality Assurance, Safety & Environmental protocols applicable to a R&D; laboratory workplace
Well-developed administration and computer skills, including the ability to prepare technical reports and proficiency in using Excel spreadsheets
Be eligible to obtain an appropriate Australian Government Security Clearance (NV1)
