About the role A growing boutique financial planning firm is looking for a confident, commercially minded Business Development & Professional Relationships Executive to help grow its referral network across Melbourne. You will work closely with the firm's Directors and advisers, represent the business at events and meetings, follow up opportunities and help build a much stronger professional referral network. This is not a hard-core boiler-room sales job.

The firm wants someone who is good with people, comfortable opening doors and capable of turning a conversation into a long-term professional relationship. As the role develops, there is genuine scope for additional hours and potentially a larger position.

Key responsibilities
Build relationships with accountants, finance brokers, bankers, lawyers and other skilled advisers
Expand the professional referral network
Identify firms and individuals the firm should be talking to
Arrange meetings for advisers and Directors
Follow up prospective referral partners
Attend networking events, business lunches and industry functions
Represent the firm professionally in the market
Use LinkedIn to connect and maintain relationships
Support marketing and business development campaigns
Maintain opportunities and activity in the CRM

About you




Solid relationship-building skills
Excellent spoken and written English
Confidence dealing with business owners and senior professionals
A warm, polished and engaging personality
Good commercial instincts
Strong follow-up skills
The ability to work independently
Experience in business development, client relations or professional services
Confidence attending networking events and representing a skilled brand
Comfort using LinkedIn and participating in occasional marketing content
