The Director Fraud Response / Investigations leads a specialist team responsible for the investigation and resolution of suspected fraud affecting Department of Social Services (DSS) administered programs, grants, procurement activities and other departmental functions.

The role provides strategic leadership, operational oversight and skilled guidance to ensure investigations are conducted lawfully, ethically and in accordance with the Australian Government Investigations Standard (AGIS), Commonwealth Fraud and Corruption Control Framework, Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013, and relevant legislation, policies and procedures.

The Director is responsible for building and maintaining a mature investigative capability that protects the integrity of DSS programs and public resources.

The key duties of the position include:
lead, manage and develop a team of fraud investigators and investigation support staff
establish a high-performance culture focused on professionalism, accountability, integrity and continuous improvement
direct and oversee complex, sensitive and high-risk fraud investigations involving DSS administered programs, grants and departmental operations




ensure investigations are conducted in accordance with legislative requirements, procedural fairness principles and AGIS
review and approve investigation reports, briefs and recommendations for administrative or criminal action
ensure appropriate management of evidence, records and information throughout the investigation lifecycle
build and maintain productive relationships with law enforcement agencies, Commonwealth integrity bodies and relevant government stakeholders
lead the development and review of investigation policies, procedures and frameworks.
