About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join a busy manufacturing operation based in Wellard.
This is a hands‐on role suited to a trade‐qualified fitter with strong maintenance, fabrication, and welding capabilities.
Working within a fast‐paced production environment, you will be responsible for preventative maintenance, breakdown response, equipment repairs, and fabrication work to ensure plant reliability and minimal downtime.
While the role is primarily site‐based in Wellard, there will be occasional requirements to attend breakdowns and maintenance works at nearby facilities located within approximately 20 minutes of the main site.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance on production equipment
Diagnose and rectify mechanical faults efficiently
Respond to plant breakdowns and minimise production downtime
Perform fabrication and modification work as required
Undertake MIG, TIG, and Stick welding activities
Assist with installation and commissioning of equipment
Complete maintenance records and work orders accurately
Support continuous improvement initiatives across the maintenance team
Travel to nearby sites when required to assist with breakdown maintenance
Essential Requirements
Certificate III Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitter) or equivalent
Proven experience as a Maintenance Fitter in a manufacturing environment
Strong
MIG, TIG, and Stick welding skills
Demonstrated fabrication experience
Experience in
FMCG, food manufacturing, or similar production environments
Strong fault‐finding and troubleshooting abilities
Current driver's licence and reliable transport
Ability to work independently and within a team
Commitment to workplace health and safety standards
Desirable Skills
Experience with conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, and production machinery
Hydraulic and pneumatic maintenance experience
Forklift licence
Additional welding tickets or trade‐related certifications
