Senior Governance, Reporting and Project Officer
Salary range: $104,925 - $122,409 plus superannuation
Up to $15,900 in salary packaging, flexible hybrid work arrangement
About the role
The Senior Governance, Reporting and Projects Officer supports the Barring-ga Balert directorate oversight of the First Peoples Framework at Victoria Legal Aid (VLA).
Supporting the establishment of a Committee or mechanisms that ensures First Peoples voices guide reviews and future planning through community knowledge, lived experience and cultural input, keeping services culturally safe, connected to real needs and building trust.
This role is based at our Melbourne CBD office on Wurundjeri Country.
About you
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
Governance and Secretariat Leadership
Demonstrated experience providing high-level governance and secretariat support to senior committees or advisory bodies, including establishing effective governance frameworks, decision-making pathways, and risk escalation processes.
Strategic Reporting and Analysis
Proven ability to lead executive-level reporting, synthesising complex information into clear, accurate, and timely insights that support accountability, performance monitoring, and informed decision-making.
Project Coordination and Delivery
Demonstrated experience coordinating complex, cross-functional projects, including setting governance arrangements, managing risks and dependencies, and ensuring delivery aligns with strategic priorities.
Senior Judgement and Stakeholder Influence
Demonstrated capacity to provide trusted,
strategic advice to senior leaders, exercise sound judgement, and influence outcomes across multiple stakeholders without direct line management authority.
Cultural Capability and First Nations Engagement
Demonstrated cultural capability and experience working respectfully and effectively with First Peoples and governance structures, supporting self-determination, culturally safe practice, and Treaty readiness.
Qualifications and/or demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in working with First Peoples in justice or a community service-related areas such as family violence, mental health, community services, housing and homelessness, drug and alcohol and youth issues.
