Position: Electrical Engineering Design Manager

Design & Build has partnered with an EPC contractor delivering complex HV substation and energy projects across the NEM.
This role will suit an experienced Electrical Engineering Design Manager who understands the full design lifecycle and can lead electrical engineering delivery across major HV substation and energy projects.

Salary: $250k
The Role
As the Electrical Engineering Design Manager, you will take ownership of electrical delivery and design across multiple HV projects, ensuring they are delivered to a high technical and commercial standard.
You will work closely with the Project Director and wider project teams to drive successful design outcomes, providing technical leadership across the design lifecycle and ensuring alignment between engineering, construction and commissioning teams.
What You'll Be Doing
Lead and manage the electrical engineering design across multiple HV projects
Oversee electrical design development for HV substations, power infrastructure and energy projects
Provide technical leadership across concept,



detailed design and design documentation
Support the Project Director with design strategy, programme and resource planning
Ensure designs meet project, client, technical and regulatory requirements
Coordinate effectively between engineering, construction and commissioning teams
Manage key stakeholder interfaces, including Network Service Providers such as TransGrid
Review and approve engineering deliverables, ensuring quality and technical compliance
Identify and manage design risks, interfaces and technical issues throughout the project lifecycle
Monitor design progress and report on programme, risks and delivery performance to senior leadership
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the wider engineering team
What You'll Bring
Demonstrated experience managing electrical engineering design across HV substations, power generation and/or energy infrastructure projects
Strong understanding of the electrical design lifecycle, from concept through detailed design and construction
Experience working within the NEM and understanding of Australian electrical and network standards
Solid stakeholder management skills, with experience working with Network Service Providers and major clients
Ability to manage competing priorities, programmes and design deliverables across multiple projects
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering
RPEQ / RPEV (or eligible) is highly regarded
