Arafura Rare Earths
Adelaide
Arafura is developing the Nolans rare earths project on Anmatjere Country in the Northern Territory, a greenfield operation producing the rare earths that will enable the global energy transition and future technologies.
We are moving into delivery and construction, and we are looking for a Senior Advisor, Cultural Heritage and Traditional Owner Engagement to make sure the commitments we have made are honoured.
This is a practical, field based role supporting the Head of Territory, who holds the Traditional Owner relationship, by translating heritage requirements and commitments into day to day site execution, and by spending real time on site with project teams, contractors and Traditional Owner representatives.
Based in Perth, the Northern Territory or Adelaide, with regular travel to site.
What you'll deliver
Cultural heritage controls embedded into work planning, ground disturbance, permit to work, access control and contractor execution, and verified in practice
Coordination of heritage surveys, monitoring, clearances and field inspections, and of Traditional Owner participation in site visits and heritage processes
Respectful, timely and accurate communication with Traditional Owner representatives and monitors about planned works, access and site activities
A clear, current record of heritage obligations and commitments,
tracked to completion, with overdue or at risk items escalated
Early identification of heritage and engagement risks, along with corrective actions that address the cause rather than the symptom
Cultural awareness and heritage material that helps site leaders, employees and contractors understand what is expected of them
Reporting and records that stand up to audit, assurance and governance review
What you'll bring
Tertiary qualification or equivalent industry experience in cultural heritage, Indigenous affairs, community engagement, social performance, anthropology, archaeology, land management or a related discipline
At least five years in a construction or operational environment
Demonstrated experience engaging and collaborating with Traditional Owners and a diverse range of stakeholders, grounded in a strong understanding of cultural values, protocols and ways of working
Sound judgement, cultural awareness and the discretion to handle sensitive matters well
Solid planning, coordination and follow up discipline, with genuine attention to record keeping
The ability to influence without direct authority and to work comfortably across corporate, site, contractor and community settings
