Senior Mental Health Support Worker (SIL)

As our organisation continues to grow, we are looking for experienced Mental Health Support Workers to join our Supported Independent Living (SIL) team. We are seeking confident, experienced professionals who can support participants with complex mental health presentations while promoting independence, recovery, and positive outcomes. You will be working in SIL homes supporting participants with conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, PTSD, personality disorders, depression, anxiety, and other psychosocial disabilities. This role requires someone who can remain calm under pressure, make sound decisions, build professional relationships, and respond effectively during challenging situations.
Your Responsibilities
Provide person-centred support in accordance with participants' NDIS plans.
Assist with daily living skills including personal care, meal preparation, medication assistance, transport, appointments and community participation.
Implement Behaviour Support Plans, Mental Health Recovery Plans and Risk Management Plans.
Recognise and respond appropriately to changes in participants' mental health.
Use trauma-informed and recovery-oriented approaches.
Support participants to build life skills and achieve greater independence.
Complete accurate shift notes, progress reports and incident reports before the end of every shift.
Work collaboratively with families, clinicians,
Support Coordinators and allied health professionals.
Promote participants' dignity, choice and rights at all times.
Follow all NDIS Practice Standards, organisational policies and workplace procedures.
Essential Requirements
Minimum
3 years' experience
supporting people with complex mental health conditions.
Previous experience working in
Supported Independent Living (SIL)
.
Experience supporting participants with behaviours of concern.
Demonstrated experience implementing Behaviour Support Plans.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
Flexible availability across a 24/7 rotating roster.

Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
Current Australian Driver Licence
Reliable, comprehensively insured vehicle
Current Medication Administration competency
Current Manual Handling Certificate
Right to work in Australia
Highly Regarded
Certificate IV in Mental Health
Certificate IV in Disability or Community Services
Mental Health First Aid
CPI, MAPA or other de-escalation training
Experience supporting participants with:
Schizophrenia
Bipolar Disorder
PTSD
Personality Disorders
Psychosocial Disability
Dual Diagnosis
Knowledge of the NDIS Practice Standards and Positive Behaviour Support Framework.
