About the role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Risk Assurance Officer to join our Enterprise Risk team and help strengthen the effectiveness of Resimac's control environment across Australia and New Zealand.
Operating within the second line of defence, this role is responsible for executing a structured, risk-based assurance program that assesses whether key controls are appropriately designed and operating effectively. You'll work closely with the Head of Enterprise Risk, risk and compliance colleagues, and first-line business teams to provide objective, evidence-based insights into control effectiveness, identify emerging risks, and support the remediation of issues through to closure.
This is an excellent opportunity for a developing risk professional looking to build deep assurance expertise while contributing to a mature risk framework and supporting strong regulatory and customer outcomes.
Key responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Enterprise Risk, your responsibilities will include:
Planning and executing risk-based control testing and assurance reviews across key risk domains, assessing both control design and operating effectiveness
Supporting the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA)
process by validating control descriptions, testing control performance and challenging ratings where evidence does not support them
Identifying, documenting and communicating control gaps, weaknesses and issues, including root cause analysis and practical recommendations for improvement
Tracking remediation actions through to completion and validating that agreed actions have been effectively implemented
Preparing assurance reports, findings papers and dashboards for stakeholders and governance forums
Contributing to KRI monitoring, incident and issue reviews, and trend analysis to identify emerging risk themes
Maintaining accurate assurance records, working papers and evidence within GRC systems and control registers
Supporting alignment with regulatory obligations including APRA CPS 220 and CPS 230, ASIC, AUSTRAC/AML-CTF and privacy requirements
Building strong relationships with first-line control owners while providing constructive challenge and practical guidance that supports a stronger risk culture
About you
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
2-5 years' experience in risk assurance, controls testing, internal audit, compliance monitoring or a related risk discipline, ideally within financial services
A solid understanding of risk and control frameworks, the Three Lines of Defence model, RCSAs, issue management and relevant regulatory obligations
Robust analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends,
determine root causes and develop practical recommendations
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly and confidently to stakeholders
Experience working with GRC systems, control registers, KRIs and reporting tools will be highly regarded
Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, commerce, law, accounting, risk or a related discipline, and/or progress towards professional risk, audit or compliance certifications
