This is a unique opportunity to develop your experience in correctional and forensic mental health, while using the clinical skills you already have in a completely different setting.

The role
As a Mental Health Nurse, you'll provide primary mental health care within a correctional environment and work with people experiencing a range of complex mental health presentations.
Your day-to-day work may include:
Running mental health clinics
Mental health assessments and clinical reviews
Case management
AOD education and support
Mental health assessments for transfers within the prison system
Risk assessment and management
Care planning and therapeutic interventions
Working closely with medical, mental health and correctional teams
Responding to ad hoc clinical needs
Where are the opportunities?
Current vacancies are available across sites including Ravenhall, MRC, Barwon/Lara, Marngoneet/Karreenga, Western Plains and Loddon/Middleton, with a range of roster patterns available.
Depending on the location, opportunities include:
Ravenhall:
24/7 roster
Barwon/Lara:
6:00am-6:00pm + on-call
Loddon/Middleton:
8:00am-4:00pm + on-call
MRC and other locations:
full time opportunities
About you
You'll be a Mental Health Registered Nurse with:
Current AHPRA registration
Minimum Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing
Minimum 12 months' Mental Health Nursing experience within the past 3 years
Eligibility to meet the client's mental health credentialling requirements
Strong clinical assessment, risk management and decision-making skills
Ability to work autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team
Current Australian driver's licence
Previous correctional or forensic mental health experience is not essential.
