Geared4Careers is an cutting-edge youth employment program providing support to students across Northern Victoria. The program started in **** in Wangaratta, with just 32 participants and a passion to support our local youth. Fast forward to now, where we have a growing presence in 21 local secondary schools and have 24 program officers, currently supporting **** students.
The position involves engaging and mentoring youth in secondary school, assisting them to reach their full potential through employment opportunities while studying and then successfully transitioning to ongoing employment or entry into tertiary courses.
Our successful candidate will be based predominately out of a Shepparton Secondary School, with regular travel to the Shepparton office for team meetings.
A day in the life of a Program Officer:
Maintaining regular contact with a caseload of students at a local secondary school
Supporting students with job applications, cover letters, resumes and interview preparation
Communication with education providers
Creating new connections and utilising existing connections with local employers to facilitate opportunities for our students
Using computer database systems to record file notes

Are a confident individual with real life experience and excellent communication skills
Have the ability to build strong relationships which includes networking within the local business and education community
Are approachable with a resilient character
Have the ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member
Have a high desire to achieve and succeed and make a difference in your local community
Have high computer literacy and record creation and maintenance skills
Candidates with a background in customer service, including hospitality or retail, will be considered for this position
