What you'll do
As the Clinical Nurse, Retrieval Services Queensland, you will provide advanced clinical expertise in the assessment, triage, and coordination of adult, paediatric, neonatal, and high-risk obstetric retrievals across Queensland. Working within a dynamic critical care environment, you will deliver clinical advice and support through telephone and telehealth services, liaising closely with referring clinicians and aeromedical providers, including the Royal Flying Doctor Service and community helicopter services, to facilitate safe and timely patient care. You will utilise your strong clinical judgement, leadership skills, and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced and often unpredictable environment, while fostering effective multidisciplinary relationships and resolving complex issues. In partnership with nursing and operational leaders, you will contribute to achieving high-quality patient outcomes, support the delivery of safe and efficient aeromedical services, and maximise the effective use of Queensland Health resources. The role also includes mentoring and developing nursing staff, participating in education and professional development activities, and maintaining practice in accordance with professional standards, service quality requirements, and the Nurse Grade 6, Band 1 classification framework.
About you
We are searching for someone who has:
- Proof of qualification and registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Registration Authority (AHPRA).
- Advanced critical care clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Strong triage and patient coordination capabilities in complex environments
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to remain calm and prioritise effectively under pressure
- Experience working across adult,
paediatric, neonatal and/or obstetric care settings
- Strong collaboration skills with multidisciplinary and aeromedical teams
- Demonstrated leadership, mentoring and clinical support abilities
- Adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment
