About the Role

The Strategy, Media and Ministerial Services team of Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development are looking for an experienced and driven Manager External Communications to lead a dynamic team, delivering high-impact communications across a wide range of subject areas from agriculture and biosecurity to fisheries, forestry, and regional development.

In this role, you'll manage and support a high-performing team, guiding their workload, providing feedback, and helping them navigate challenges. You’ll ensure consistency and quality across all communications outputs for the Department, from newsletters and flyers to website content and strategic comms plans.

You’ll collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including project teams and managers in Digital and Design, Internal Communications, and Media. Keeping senior leadership informed of challenges and progress, you’ll play a key role in maintaining transparency and alignment. Your team also oversees sponsorship and advertising compliance, manages the department's central contact inbox,



and provides end-to-end communications support for departmental projects and initiatives.

About You

You will be an experienced communications leader with strong team management skills and a sharp eye for detail. You excel at briefing, delegating, and providing feedback, while keeping multiple priorities on track. You're confident working with stakeholders, leading meetings, and turning complex information into clear, engaging content. Experience in government or sectors like agriculture, biosecurity, fisheries, or regional development would be beneficial.
