The Chance

The Resort Environmental Senior Officer plays a vital role in delivering environmental programs and sustainability initiatives across Mt Buller and Mt Stirling. This year‑round position combines hands‑on field work with analytical reporting, supporting flora and fauna management, native vegetation offsets, circular economy deliverables, and resort education programs.
Working closely with the Environmental Manager, and the Mt Stirling Operations team, the role monitors environmental performance, ensures compliance with regulations, and contributes to ARV’s commitment to protecting the alpine landscape. If you’re a detail‑oriented environmental practitioner, skilled in data analysis, GIS and spatial data mapping, capable and confident to work outdoors in alpine conditions, we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

- Implement environmental programs including threatened species management, flora and fauna monitoring, pest and weed control, and waste reduction initiatives.
- Assist with assessment and review of Site Environmental Management Plans, providing analysis and advice.
- Coordinate and deliver resort education programs to promote environmental sustainability and awareness.
- Collect, analyse and report on environmental performance data including energy, water, waste and emissions, offsets and compliance.
- Monitor compliance with environmental regulations, permits and certifications.
- Assist other areas of the organisation as directed, such as Mt Stirling Ski Patrol and Assets & Operations team, with general resort operations and presentation tasks.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

- Minimum 2 years’ experience in environmental programs such as flora and fauna management, native vegetation offsets or circular economy initiatives.




- Experience with GIS and spatial data management.
- Strong analytical skills with demonstrated experience in environmental data collection and reporting.
- Agricultural Chemical User’s Permit with 1080 endorsement (or willingness to obtain).
- Qualification in environmental science, natural resource management or related field (desirable).
- Capable skier/boarder and ASPA qualification (desirable).
- Knowledge of environmental regulations relevant to the Australian alpine region (desirable).

Salary Band
$68,045 – $75,175 + superannuation
