AGED CARE SUPPORT WORKER

Our Home Care service provides a range of services including domestic assistance, transport, social support individual, and social support group.

ABOUT IWC:

IWC is an Aboriginal community-controlled and multi-accredited health and wellbeing organisation that delivers services without discrimination to Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Bundaberg and the Wide Bay Burnett.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

IWC is seeking a permanent part-time up to full-time Aged Care Support Worker to provide care to our aged care clients living in the community, supporting their independence and improving their quality of life.

- General House cleaning; Vacuuming, Mopping, Bathrooms, Linen assistance

- Social outings

- Bill paying

- Grocery Shopping

- Appointments

We are seeking a Aged Care Support Worker who is committed to ensuring the highest possible standard of in-home care for our valued clients.

DUTIES:

- Provide domestic assistance including general household cleaning, laundry, linen assistance and shopping assistance.

- Provide individual and group social support, accompanied activities, community access and cultural support where allocated.

- Provide transport to appointments, shopping, community activities and other approved destinations where required.

- Provide in-home or community-based respite support to clients and their informal carers.

- Assist clients with meal preparation and other everyday living activities where included in their care and services plan.

- Where appropriately trained, assessed as competent and authorised by IWC, provide personal care support including assistance with activities of daily living, non-clinical continence support and assistance with self-administration of medication.

- Support clients to maintain independence and participate in everyday activities rather than unnecessarily undertaking tasks for them.

- Observe, document and report changes in a client's condition, wellbeing, environment,



circumstances or support needs.

- Complete accurate service records, progress/care notes, incident reports and other required documentation.

- Report hazards, incidents, suspected abuse, neglect, deterioration or other risks in accordance with IWC procedures.

- Deliver other approved Support at Home services within the employee's role, training, demonstrated competency and scope, as directed and in accordance with the client's care and services plan.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

- Willingness to embrace domestic care duties as part of their role.

- Genuine empathy with elderly clients and a passion to work within the community service industry.

- Excellent telephone manner and great communication skills.

- Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.

- Strong organisation and time management skills to prioritise work and meet deadlines.

- Demonstrated ability to work independently whilst functioning within a team setting.

- High level of computer literacy and the ability to learn recent systems quickly and retain information.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

- Willing to complete a Certificate III in Individual Support (Home and Community). All course expenses will be fully funded.

- A current driver's licence is essential.

- A First Aid/CPR Certificate or ability to obtain.

- A Blue Card (Working with Children Card QLD)* or ability to obtain.

- A Federal Police Check or ability to obtain.

* No Card, No Start legislation means that the successful applicant will need to hold a valid blue card before they start work. IWC will cover the cost of this application for the successful candidate.

SALARY PACKAGE:

Your Salary Package is made up of the following: -

- Salary Sacrifice Packaging valued up to $15,990 per annum – adding approximately $2,000 to your take-home pay (available after completion of probation).

- Meals and Entertainment Package up to $2,650 per annum (available after completion of probation).

- 9-Day Fortnight (for full-time staff).

- Superannuation valued at 12%.

- Annual Leave Loading of 17.5%.
