About HARKE Recruitment

HARKE Recruitment is an Australian education recruitment agency supporting primary and secondary schools nationally. We work with Government, Independent and Catholic Education schools, connecting them with qualified teachers for full time employment. Our mission is simple: become the most trusted education recruitment agency in Australia by making the process easy, efficient and effective, every time.

About the Role

We're growing our Victorian Hub and looking for an experienced Candidate Consultant who owns their desk end to end; from first enquiry through to a successful placement. This isn't a role for someone who needs to be told what to do next. It's for someone who already knows how to read a busy day, decide what matters most in the next hour, and act on it without waiting to be asked. We run a 180 recruitment model: you own the candidate experience end to end, your Recruitment Consultant owns the client experience, and placements happen when both halves work in genuine unison.

At HARKE, we're obsessed with candidate experience. Not "good service" - obsessed. That means remembering a candidate's preferences and timeline without being reminded, calling when you said you'd call, and following through every single time, because trust is built in the small things nobody's checking on. We're looking for someone who advocates for every candidate like they're the only one on their desk, and who goes beyond what's expected as a matter of habit, not just when it's convenient.

You'll be measured on real outcomes: conversion, pipeline strength, and your visible contribution to placements across the state. If that sounds like pressure, good — it means you'll know exactly where you stand, and exactly what excellence looks like. And because we're a fast-growing business, we expect you to keep asking "how can we do this smarter?;— trialing new outreach and sourcing approaches and sharing what works, rather than waiting to be told what to do next.

Is This You?

- You manage time like it's a finite resource, because it is. You know the difference between urgent and important, and you don't let a full inbox dictate your day.

- You triage with confidence.

When ten things land on your desk at once, you don't freeze or default to whatever's loudest, you make a fast, sound call on what gets your attention first, and you own that call.

- You're a genuine team player. You communicate early, clearly and on time. In a 180 model, your RC is depending on you for the candidate side just as much as you're depending on them for the client side, and you take that accountability seriously.

- You act, not just plan. You turn priorities into movement the same day, not a list that gets revisited tomorrow.

- You're available 3–5pm, every day. This is our busiest call window, and it's when the teachers we work with need us most responsive. If your schedule can't flex around this, this role won't be the right fit.

- You're driven by excellence, not just completion. "Done" and "done well" are different things to you, and you default to the second.

- You're confident with systems and genuinely forward-thinking about them. You are the person who looks for smarter ways to use systems and tools, to work faster and better.

- You're process-driven with real attention to detail. You follow a framework because it works, and your data is always clean enough that someone else can pick up where you left off.

What You'll Own

- The candidate experience, fully. You are the candidate's primary point of contact and advocate throughout their journey. Your RC owns the client relationship; you own making sure every candidate feels informed and well looked after from first contact through to placement.

- Lead conversion: Own the Lead to Contact experience, applying a consistent follow-up framework, and own conversion across all lead sources.

- Pipeline quality: Build and maintain a pipeline of job-ready candidates, present your Top placeable candidates per state weekly, and respond fast when tagged into a live role.

- CRM excellence: Keep Bullhorn data accurate and consistent with HARKE processes.

- Re-engagement:

Maintain regular contact with active and passive candidates and generate genuine referrals and testimonials through the trust you build.

- Commercial judgement: Filter candidates before committing to a full prescreen, prioritise fit and over volume, and treat interview requests and offers as same-day priorities.

What We're Looking For

- 3+ years' experience in a similar Candidate Consultant or recruitment role, ideally in agency recruitment

- Hands-on experience with Bullhorn or a comparable recruitment CRM.

- A solutions-focused mindset—someone who takes ownership, embraces challenges and focuses on what they can do to achieve results, rather than making excuses or dwelling on why something is difficult.

- A genuine commercial mindset: comfortable being measured on conversion rate, pipeline strength and contribution to placements, not just activity

- Proven resilience and consistency through the slower weeks as well as the busy ones

- Strong communication skills and the ability to build candidate trust quickly, remotely

- Understanding of (or a genuine willingness to quickly learn) Australian teacher registration requirements and subject/curriculum structures across states

Tools You'll Use

Bullhorn CRM, Microsoft 365 & Teams, SEEK and job boards, LinkedIn/Instagram/Facebook, and AI tools to work smarter and faster.

Why HARKE

- Fully remote role with a genuine Victorian hub focus and team support

- Uncapped commission on top of a strong base salary

- A clear, metrics-driven role where your contribution is visible and rewarded

Tell Us Who You Are

Alongside your resume, we'd love a short cover letter and half a page is plenty. Skip the formal introduction. What we really want to know is how you operate when nobody's telling you what to do next: do you back yourself to try something, and are you genuinely okay with it not working out?

We put a lot of weight on high agency; people who take ownership, make a call, and move, rather than waiting for permission or the perfect plan. That means being comfortable trying and failing, and treating what didn't work as something to learn from rather than something to avoid next time.

So tell us about a time you backed your own judgement, tried something and it didn't go to plan and what you took from it.
