We are seeking an experienced SharePoint Collaboration Transition Specialist to support a large-scale Microsoft 365 transition program within a complex Queensland Government environment.
This is a hands-on role focused on preparing, remediating and transitioning SharePoint Online sites and collaboration content into an existing Microsoft 365 environment. You will work closely with business site owners, technical migration specialists and project stakeholders to ensure sites are ready for migration and operate effectively following transition.
What you'll be doing
- Assess existing SharePoint Online sites, including structure, functionality, permissions, navigation and content dependencies.
- Work with business owners to understand requirements and determine how sites should operate following transition.
- Configure and remediate modern SharePoint sites, including pages, web parts, navigation, document libraries, lists, views, metadata and permissions.
- Support SharePoint migration activities, including using ShareGate where appropriate.
- Validate migrated sites from both a technical and user perspective.
- Identify unsupported, obsolete or custom SharePoint components and determine appropriate solutions.
- Prepare site assessments, transition documentation, issue/exception registers, validation evidence and handover materials.
What we're looking for You will have strong, hands-on SharePoint Online experience within a large enterprise workplace, with a practical understanding of SharePoint configuration, administration, troubleshooting and migration.
Ideally, you'll bring:
- Strong SharePoint Online experience, particularly contemporary SharePoint sites.
- Experience with SharePoint administration, configuration and remediation.
- Previous experience transitioning or migrating SharePoint sites.
- Experience working directly with business site owners and technical teams.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across permissions, navigation, pages, libraries,
lists and site functionality.
- Experience with ShareGate Migrate or comparable SharePoint migration tooling.
- Ability to identify migration constraints, unsupported functionality and practical alternatives.
- Experience producing transition plans, runbooks, validation evidence and handover documentation.
- Broader Microsoft 365 experience across Teams, OneDrive, Microsoft 365 Groups and Entra ID is highly desirable.
- Relevant Microsoft certifications are advantageous.
- 7+ years' experience working in large-scale enterprise environments.
Why this opportunity? This is a great opportunity to join a significant Microsoft 365 / SharePoint transition program, working across a complex enterprise environment and contributing directly to the successful migration and modernisation of collaboration services.
